People Skills: Short and Sincere

Short and sincere is a power note that’s perfect

When thinking of sending a power note – which you now think of as a gift to the recipient – using their name liberally and not beginning with the tired and over used obligationary, “Just a note to say” etc. what do you write – by hand on a nice card?

Something short

Something sincere

Here’s the perfect recipe:

  1. Salutation – with their name
  2. First line compliment – using the word YOU and putting something true behind it, “You are a nice person.
  3. Use one line about what they did and the impact it made – possibly with their name inserted again. “Your generosity of time will be hard to match John.”
  4. End with a sincere close. “Wishing you the best!” and your name

Here it is:

Dear John,

You are a nice person.

Your generosity of time will be hard to match John.

Wishing you all the best,

Of course use the words that work best for and the recipient and your intent – however the point here is that it can be wonderfully effective with a short, sincere message –

Fewer words make the sentiment clear and powerful –

That’s a power note!

You create your day by the way you think. Make it magnificent!
