People Skills – Complement recieving

We spoke about doing more than a stand alone “thank you” – by turning it to the other person. And we can do this also when we feel compelled to argue the complement – which we do mostly with those we know.

Someone we love says to us, “You look great!” and we may feel compelled to argue, “Really? I feel tired.” Or “Oh, you’re just saying that!” or “No I don’t!” or “You’ve got to be kidding!”

Stop yourself – this may be why you aren’t getting more compliments from those you know – because it felt bad to them by your argument.

Instead be calm, be gracious and receive this compliment gift as a gift, remembering to make the giver feel good.

“You are the sweetest.” Or “You make me feel good.” Or “You say the nicest things!”

Then they will continue which is a very good thing for both of you.

You create your day by the way you think. Make it magnificent!
