Etiquette Introductions

In prior times there were many more rules – remember much of etiquette came from court – and it was important to make sure the most important person (the King) was respected – in prior times no one in the Kings presence could be taller or above the king so if the king sat, everyone else had to bow down or walk bent over – one reason the kings chair was elevated!

Now it’s less important – we have no kings – save Jesus –

So the point to introductions is to do them – and over do them –

“Do you know (name of person to another person)?” instead of assuming and not asking

“Let me introduce you to my (whatever they are) to make sure you include everyone.

“Are introductions in order here?” or “Does everyone know everyone?” when a group of people are gathering

When you introduce – everyone, every time – people feel valued – the goal – you show your people skills – and life is better.

Friday Funny

An elderly couple went to dinner at the home of some friends, also elderly. After dinner, the wives went into the kitchen and the two men were talking. One said, “We went out to dinner last night at a really good restaurant. I’d highly recommend it.”

The second man said, “What’s the name of it?”

The first man thought and thought, then said, “What’s the name of that flower you give to someone you love, the one that is usually red that has thorns?”

“Oh, you mean a rose?” said the second man.

“Yes, that’s it,” said the first man. Then he called to the kitchen, “Rose, what’s the name of that restaurant we went to last night?”
