The mistake we make both in person and on the phone is to put our name first –

It will help others to remember your name (helping them is key to good etiquette) and be better for you to be remembered if you put it after a few other words –

In person – “It’s so nice to meet you – I’m Shawna Schuh” or ask a question and begin a conversation before introducing yourself – it breaks the ice and people are more open and receptive – verses simply extending a hand or saying first thing, “Hi, my name is Shawna” I’ve found that flies right out of the person’s head because of all the sensations happening:
