Finding quotes on commitment?

I had a bit of a surprise today while getting ready to write this – I decided to look up commitment in my favorite quote book: The Forbes book of Business Quotations, New York (1997) that topic is not represented. This is almost 1000 pages of quotes and not a one on commitment? I went to other hard copy sources and none in the next two either…

Then I picked up a book called: Good Advice, by William Safire & Leonard Safir and there were two! The first one was nice and short from Napoleon Bonaparte who said, “If you start to take Vienna – take Vienna.” That is good advice!

The second was from Oliver Wendell Holmes, Jr. who said, “To fight out a war, you must believe something and want something with all your might. So must you do to carry anything else to an end worth reaching. More than that, you must be willing to commit yourself to a course, perhaps a long and hard one, without being able to foresee exactly where you will come out.”
I liked this a lot – and feel like this is what we do in life – we certainly do not really know where we will come out… however when we commit to living with all our might. When we commit to loving with all our might – well, I image we will come out all right.

You create your day by the way you think! Make it magnificent!
